Manager of Digital Technology East Coast
Darren Hadfield joined South32 in 2019 as the Lead Digital Technology for Illawarra Metallurgical Coal. In early 2020 his role was extended to include all East Coast Australian operations as the Manager for Digital Technology East Coast. He is responsible for both Information Technology and Operations Technology which includes Strategy, Planning, Governance, Projects and Managed Services.
His achievements include developing the East Coast Data and Visualisation strategy, migration of a large on premise computing infrastructure to the cloud, improvements to the sales and operations planning process through the introduction of a pit to port optimisation solution, improvements to the service delivery model and the introduction of an East Coast projects hub. Darren is also actively involved in initiatives to further improve South32’s Diversity and Planning framework.
Before joining South32, Darren was the Program Director at GBST responsible for managing an agile software development project to transform the organisation’s core wealth management product. In prior roles, Darren worked for PanAust as the CIO responsible for all aspects of IT across its global operations and Head Office, BlueScope Steel as the Information Systems Business Services Manager responsible for IT Strategic Planning, Customer Engagement, Project Office and Infrastructure Services for the largest manufacturing facility in Australia, BHP and Microsoft Australia.
