Cam was appointed as CEO - Bengalla Mining Company in 2016 after Rio Tinto divested it’s 40% share to New Hope Group. With more recent changes in ownership structure his current role is General Manager. He comes from agricultural background having grown up on a sheep/cattle station in western Queensland.  He studied Mining Engineering at Queensland University and joined Rio Tinto in 1984 at their Tarong Mine in southeast Queensland and has been fortunate to work in Rio Tinto operational roles around the globe including here in Australia, USA and Indonesia.  In his last role at Rio Tinto – MD Productivity Improvement he was responsible for supporting Rio Tinto’s business units globally with technology solutions aimed at improving business and operating performance. He has an MBA from Warwick University UK, Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance ASIC, NSW Mine Manager statutory and Australian Institute of Company Directors qualifications.

Bengalla’s mission since the mine commenced operating in 1998  has been to produce Safe, Productive and Profitable coal with strong community/ environmental performance and market presence. This has underpinned the way we engage directly with the local community, our employees (90% live locally), local businesses and our customers. More than ever, securing social licence to operate is one of the most critical elements contributing to Bengalla’s ongoing success along with our contribution to the local, NSW and Australian economy for many years to come.
